This artist’s publication conveys Ben Landau’s thinking through socially engaged art practice, developed during his incomplete creative practice research in the PhD program of RMIT University in Naarm / Melbourne 2018-2022.
Ideas of not-knowing, open incompleteness, and ‘negative capability’ are explored to test the transformative potential of socially engaged art for individuals and communities. Ben demonstrates a role for artists in making platforms of creative, emotional and intellectual exploration, characterised by an ethics of care, candid directness, and creative lightness.
Platform Production invites readers to join in wrangling with the liveliness of creative thought emerging. Included is A Companion Reader with contributions by Marnie Badham, Mick Douglas, Neal Haslem, Dan Koop and Sarah Walker, and instructions on how to print, read and share this publication.
The publication is intended to be freely copied and gifted amongst creative communities in a free chain of self-selecting distribution. A small edition of print copies commence this process outwards from two launching events held in Naarm / Melbourne in October 2022.
You are encouraged to gift Ben’s work to others, expand the network for these ideas, and extend the collaborative creative practices being conveyed.
